Contuniues Check Engine Light need help to fix.....

Hahaha, a bold strategy😀
I have a buddy in Rhode Island who was failed for an evap code. He reset the codes. I was surprised to learn that they not only look at the light, they plug in a scan tool to make sure all the monitors are complete and that a certain amount of mileage has been driven. Which is another reason I'm thinking about moving to Tennessee or any other state without road salt and state inspections.

Yeah, I'm in Oklahoma. They use a combination of sand and salt here. Haven't had any issues with it on my 26 year old Ranger yet.

The downside to no inspections is all the junkers on the road here. Missing headlights, tail lights, fenders, bumpers, glass. Saw a Mustang one day, couldn't see inside, the entire windshield was being held together with clear tape. It was UGLY! Fookin Ugly, FUGLY!

But the upside, ratrods with no fenders are all over here. Them little four wheel offroad thingamabobs, legal on the road here. Things like my Lightning, in which all the smog stuff is gone, it's got an after market blower, intake and exhaust and it's tuned. No Problemo!! The police don't bother anyone with loud exhausts. Window tint is legal here.

We got 93 octane here. And the same place sells Sunoco 110. Another station has 100 at t he pump. Carry a firearmw ith no permit. Carry any type knife you desire, including switchblades.

Moved here from Commiefornia in 2002. Don't regret it one bit.

Oh btw, despite the catalyst, EGR and EVAP being non-operational, the only thing that shows when I plug in a scanner ,is INC on the monitors. No codes. Weird.

In 2002, driving home from work in a downpour so hard, it felt like driving under water, the truck stalled. Couldn't get it started. Got it into a parking lot and let it sit a few days. Started right up. Haven't had any codes ever since.

Despite all that, she runs beautifully. Starts first turn, gets upwards of 20 mpg, outstanding for a 3.0. And where I used to have to run 93 octane because of ping, I run 87 now with no ping. Weird. Don't know wtf happened after it got flooded out, but it's a totally different truck since.

All that, and it has a no muffler modified exhaust. MAC CAI with a stainless steel mesh filter, larger throttle body, and a JET chip on the computer.

I Passed SMOG! Registered Truck again so it's back to business! At least until the next issue....lol.

Thanks to everyone...especially Mechrick & Pentode...I was soooo lost without your guidance I would have NEVER figured this all out. Your education is appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Fantastic news! Whatever little I did to help, it was my pleasure.
It's kind of funny, because I work in electronics, I have always avoided cars with electronics at all costs because I never wanted my work to be my hobby too... so when it comes to auto electronics, I'm relatively inexperienced but I can reason my way through most issues.
I'm learning just like you, but I'm always happy to pass along whatever I do know.
Also, thanks for letting us know - so many people disappear once their problem is solved and then I have to wonder how the story turned out.
