Control module PN?

I've narrowed down my 4WD problem to the control module, and I ordered a new one. Dealer sent me the part, but it doesn't match the box. New PN should be 1L5Z-7E453-AC, part he sent is 1L54-7H417-AE. He says they're not supposed to match up, but that doesn't sound right.

Thoughts?

The one you were sent is a newer revision of the part you are replacing (AE over AC). The original part likely supersedes to a newer unit.

Also, Ford doesn't put part numbers on the parts. They put engineering numbers on the parts. The engineering number usually is very similar to the part number, but not identical.

I would venture that if they look the same, and the new one plugs in, you have the right part.
