From what l can tell, when lifting the front of a Ranger (93-97) there are only three items that come in all the kits

1) Drop brackets
2) Coils
3) Pitman arm

If this is correct... why would someone spend money for the kit when you can order the pieces individually and have it be cheaper than the kit? l know that new shocks, u bolts brake lines etc... can add up, but that still doesnt compensate for the cost.
From the reseacrh l have done on the the various Ranger sites, l can pick up the Skyjacker 4-6" classII drop brackets (here in the TRS Fab& offroad), 6" coils (eBay) & a pitman arm (eBay) for $550.
That is almost $200 dollars cheaper than the Skyjacker kit and getting braided lines, blocks & u bolts will not be $200.
Am l right in my thinking? Is this valid to purchase these 3 parts seperatley and have the front lifted or am l missing something/ parts?
ANy input is greatly appreciated. Thanks:icon_thumby:

With the Kits you get the brackets, coils, pitman arm, brake lines, ubolts, blocks, all necessary bolts and hardware. Buying it all separably would add up to quite a bit. And if you can finds all 3 stainless braided lines, blocks, and u bolts for less than 200 you've got some pretty good sources.

What about radius arms? Or did you just mean drop brackets? I thought class II came with rad arms for better performance, those alone are like $600.

The basic 6" kit includes:
Drop brackets
Coils
Blocks
U bolts
all for $731.95 as found here on this site
http://www.trsfabandoffroad.com/products/skyjacker.htm

The brackets for a class II are $226.94 as found here
http://www.trsfabandoffroad.com/products/skyjacker_brackets.htm

If that is all the basic kit contains for $731.95 w/ no shocks or brake lines. It is cheaper to buy the parts individually

Drop brackets 271.00 shipped
Coils 165.00 shipped
Pitman 80 shipped
U bolts 40 shipped
-----------------
total $556 to the door vs. $731.95 + shipping

l just want to make sure this thought process is accurate. l am going to put together my own lift so l can use the best stuff. But what l can tell is it will be cheaper to do it this way rather than buy a kit.

it would definately be cheaper if you were able to get some of the components used.most of the time you want to do things a little different than what comes in the kit anyway(**** blocks)

Agreed. l plan to swap in chevys in the back with a longer shackle.

As for the front... l dont even think that the majority of the parts will need to be "used" to save money.

You can get all 3 braided stainless lines from James Duff for $95 shipped. Most spring shops sells the 1/2" u-bolts for around $30 (they do by me atleast). Blocks only cost about $50. That is less than $200.
