Hey guys. Quick question.
My truck chimes anytime the door is open, as if I have left the keys in the ignition, but they are not in there.
When I got the truck, there was a non-functional remote starter already in place (dealer didn't have remote). IIRC they use a little sensor at the ignition to trick the truck into thinking the key is there, that sensor was removed and ever since the chiming has been around. Any thoughts on how to stop this? I do not have the sensor anymore so I can't put it back in place. Is there a way to remove the actual piece that is chiming?
Any input is appreciated.
Thanks

oh yeah i hated that little bastard every time i had my radio on and i opened my door, and my igniton is shorted out so it dinged sometimes when there was no key either, but yeah i took mine out in 93 ranger its at the bottom of the dash under like the ac/heater controls, i had to remove one screw and unplug it, idk what year yours is, but ill grab some pics n a sec

:icon_thumby:Thanks 93, I'll check it out and see if that is the same as on my 00.

mine does that some times, i just hit the key cylinder and it stops

will there r two ways to stop this one. removing the dingier, or unhook the door jar sensor. both r easy and not hard to get to, i have not had this prob, but the one were the door jar sensor went nuts and told me the door was open all the time, i just unplugged the door sensor. seen it works on a ground method of use(meaning that when door is shout no ground, open door and u ground the relay and off does the dingier) the door jar sensor is in the latch it self inside the rear of the door.

Good Luck
Whitney

i do the same thing!!
u can unplug the ignition contact, remove the covers from the steering column, on the key cylinder u will se a copper piece witha little blue plastic cover/ holder unplug it and the key dinger is out, i plugged back mine cuz i forgot the keys lol! i just press the cylinder when i take the key out and that way it keeps shut
