so, im gonna need a mean system to drown out that cammed 350, so i had an idea.

i know speakers behind you or in the middle of my 2 seats wont sound that good.

but i want my truck loud and clear with decent bass, and i dont need a sub.

so heres what im thinking.

im gonna be running 2 polk audio db651 comps in the front doors.

but im thinking of either another set of those or the db6501 coaxs in a custom build console under the dash.

im gonna have a console designed similar the the 95-01 explorers that go up under the dash.

so will this be too much?

my other idea was to run the comps in the doors and do polk 6x9's in between my 66 'stang seats.

my whole cab is deadened with fat mat. and yes my speakers will be amped.

so let me hear some inputs from you guys.

kinda like this but without the sub

That would be a sweet setup, would be kinda hard to figure out if you have a manual tho.
But I'm assuming yours is an auto.
Cool idea go for it:icon_welder:

yeah it will be an auto

just not sure if i should run coax's or another pair of comps to match my doors.

it will take time but anything worth while never slaps together.

maybe it'd be cool to put a center channel up in front as far high up as you can get it to the dash, and then maybe like 2 pairs of two different sizes?

not sure if you need more than 1 set of comps in a regular cab, or even an extended cab for that matter.

this is just silliness

my two cents.

i would run the speakers behind you if you had enuff space. so your center console would be like a "T" and the back half wound be by your head with speakers up against the back of the cab.

and use coax if you put a tweeter to close to you it can get tricky to blend it into the rest of the music

now just outta curiousity.

everyone says to have the music in front of you.

what you just described was my original idea, but i wasnt sure how it would sound.

then i thought about doing it like in the picture, but not that big obviously, but that same kinda design.

im just getting ideas. ya know

and BAXTEJ44, i guess you havent heard a good system before. thats why anyone who knows stereos mounts 2 sets of components up front. 1 set in the door, and 1 set in some custom kick panels.

hummmm no real need to keep the music infront of you.just highs (tweeters) infront. mids and bass can be anywere, do you have just 2 channels now or 4 ? if you have 4 and your adding 5 and 6. any were is good. just turn the highs down and let it fill in the mid's
if you taking it from 2c to 4c its gets a lil tricker just casuse now you will hear more stuff in the music and can make some music sound messed up.

like a left to right sweap comming from all different angles

my setup will be a pioneer headunit. 1 set of polk audio db651 components in the doors and a memphis 4 channel amp.

i dont think the one set of comps will give me the sound im looking for. so to help fill out the sound, im think another set of those comps in the console like i pictured.

or a set of coax's in the console, or in between my seats.

im not concerned about adding more bass, but helping to fill out the sound.

some ideas:

if you to have them in the front put both tweeters right under the HU or AC controls. like right next to each other kinda making a center speaker. and the the speaker on either side.

one in the front by the HU one in the back aiming toward the rear view mirror

orrrr

go with a smaller speaker. 4, 5 , 5 1/4, they can put out enuff to fill with out messing up the sound stage to much.

behind you in the "4" corners is ok cause you can make them all come together at the same "center point" having them other places just makes that harder. what i have found to be the best fix for haveing odd placed speakers; is to have them not point directly at the person and set the delay a few ms back and bounce them off the door or roof. Ie in the front of your console aim them to your window crank area. in the back to your roof.
this cuts out the directional tendency and gives a more spread sound. and use the DTA to get the timing right

i think ill do that.

well let me ask this, what would be the ideal setup thats doable in a standard cab ranger?

your 4 corners are your best set up cut and dry. never sat in a standard cab idk what kinda space is really there to work with. you can stack speakers next to each other by the door. or put them right behind the seat depending on how much space you have. amped speakers kinda muffled by the seat is stillllll going to fill the cab dont kid your self. more so in your standard cab. 50-100wrmsx4 is alot in a truck.

i had 100wrmsx4 in mine and could pass an 18 wheeler with the window down and barely hear the truck

Alright so I'll just put some polk 6x9s behind the seats like I originally planned. Yeah I'm gonna be running 50x4 rms so this thing should rock.

Thanks 4x4fun
