I have a 93 ranger splash 2wd with the 4.0. And i want to eventually lower it becasue i love the look. and my friends and I go cruising every Friday night and i am the only stock looking vehicle.

Q1. if i flip the rear hanger that is supposed to give a 2 inch drop on a ranger. the ranger splash leafs have a 1 inch drop built in so wouldn't that be a 3 inch drop in the rear? 2+1=3 right and if i ever do that expo axle swap but kept it a spring under like a flip kit it would be a 5 inch drop right becasue a flip kit is a 4 inch drop plus my drop leafs is 1 so 4+1=5 inch right???????? I am so confused. Hopefully someone will help me. thanks a lot.

Q2. The wheels i have are the same ones as on this mustang

and has anybody ever seen them used on a ranger? I herd that i need 5/16 wheel spacers to run the front center caps on the wheels. If that's true would i need to get longer wheel studs or will my stock ones be fine. Thanks.

thanks so much Rusty p.s. I did search but didn't find anything

Hi 93splash

A1: If you were to flip just your shackles you would get that amount of drop (2" to 3"). Do not :stop: add in the drop already built into the springs if that is so, I had not heard that before - but I am not that familiar with the specifics of a Splash suspension. If you were to do the axle flip (Explorer Axle on top of springs) you would get just the 4" drop, for same reason mentioned.

A2: I have seen those rims on another Ranger here at one time, but cannot remember whos. And I am not sure about the studs vs center caps.

Good Luck and let us see some pics when you do it. Hope this helps to clarify :icon_idea: some confusion :icon_confused:.

Check out the Tech Library - look in the lowering section, there should be a how-to

thanks hazmat ranger. That cleared up a lot of confusion.

irishblessing- the info is in the tech library

Did those rims look good on the ranger if you can remember?

thanks for your help Rusty

I can get you pictures of my shackle flip if you'd like.

It took me just over an hour to finish it.

(I just remembered, I already had bolts put in instead of rivets. My shackles original hangars had rusted off.)

You are welcome :icon_thumby: - I thought the rims looked good - if you want to see them on yours - go to the Photoshop Forum and put a request in the Photoshop Thread - I will do up a render for you.

my personal opionion would be its easier to do a axle flip. is that out of the question.

My buddy had those same wheels on his 92 they looked good on his but a splash... I dont know if they would a splash is a lot sleeker looking truck. I'd post a link but I can't figure out copy/paste on my iPhone def try the photoshop and you can decide yourself.
