Concealed Carry Pistol Thread

even stainless steel and plastic for durability.

Not knocking plastic or polymer guns but saying it is made out of plastic for durability is funny. :icon_rofl:

It's true. You're probably just think of cheaper, thinner plastic used on Ford electrical connectors or toys. Maybe even bad ABS plastic.

PVC pipe at Home Depot is cheap, and how often do you see that break? If something is well-made, properly designed, and built with sturdy material, it will definitely be sturdy and durable for life.

Metal can be heat-treated to alter its lattice structure to increase hardness, right? Why can't plastic?

Y'all have me dreaming of 1911's now... :icon_bounceblue:

As long as it is only used for what it is intended for PVC works great. Hidden in cupboards, basements and underground is ideal. It breaks down in sun like most plastics and has temperature restrictions.

I have seen it busted up quite a bit, my PVC downspout is all busted up, the markers for the rural water line break off if you look at them wrong as do field tile inlets. But they do hurt a lot less to run through a combine than steel/cast iron inlets like what my field has...

Anyway I don't think they use PVC much for making guns and plastics do vary wildly depending on how they are made.

Again, not knocking plastic on guns (I have three rifles with synthetic stocks) but it is just the context for a pistol. It just struck me as funny because like what else would it be made out of if not plastic, steel or aluminum?

Unobtanium? Rarium? Expensium?

My Remington 597 has a synthetic stock, I rather like it as did my friends. Same as my M&P .45, I like how it feels (and shoots) as did the same friends who are die-hard Glock fans.

There's a difference between cheap plastic and good plastic. Sure it might still not do too well if you run over it, but why would you do that to your poor firearm anyways? I can't imagine any situation where the plastic would "fail" that wouldn't constitute a certain degree of carelessness (and therefore violation of gun safety rules). :dunno:

My 91/30 as an ATI synthetic stock.
My Ruger American has a synthetic stock.
My Mossberg 702 has a synthetic stock.

The context of the statement struck me as funny at the time.

I went with a Hidden Hybrid Holsters S1. So far I am extremely pleased with it! And it has a few more options than most IWBs you find which is a big plus. If anyone looks me up on xdtalk.com I have the same user name, and I've written a review in a bit more detail.

My pistol is a Springfield XDm 3.8 9mm full frame btw 19+1 :D

I can't do an OWB... b/c then none of my pants fit....

you laugh, but I'm being serious.. I have one pair of dress slacks that fit with no pistol. All of my jeans and shorts are to big without the pistol

just read thru this thread again... lots of good info here, UNTIL we got to expensium.... lol

Just received the shipping notice on my G-Code INCOG

If I like it... I think it'll be a cooler option than the horsehide against me all day of the Theis

I've been looking for a holster, I do believe I'm going to order one in the next day or two when I get to the bank. I worked a ton of overtime the last 3 weeks and have enough to take the CPL class finally.

I couldn't decide between IWB or OWB, but OWB kinda nullifies the concealed carry permit, at least roughly 8 months out of the year here in Michigan. I need to buy some newer pants anyways.

Thanks for sharing that!

*edit* Was the Expensium crack that bad?

I got one of those fancy plastic holsters for my CZ, well it was one made for the Makarov, and there very similar, and it does fit....Just too well, I can't really draw my gun without trying to take the holster with me. So I've got some filing to do.

The Theis Holster is Awesome! I love it. It's a lot like the CrossBreed

The INCOG I can't say yet. Stand by for thoughts on it...

My favorite holster is the white hat holster. It is like the crossbreed but you can replace the kydex and carry a different firearm in under 5 mins.

I have used mine for about a year and I carry a full frame 1911 and a full size XD. I can barely tell they are on my hip.

Yeah I'm not to impressed with my first reaction to the INCOG. I'm so used to the softer feel of the horsehide.

I don't need to change guns. I'm a firm believer in carry the same gun at all times and carry it the same way.

Yes I just bought a different holster but I wanted to see if it was cooler.
