Coleman Liquid Fuel

Well... I'm certainly no expert. I thought there were some visual differences between suppliers... while meeting the spec.

At the end of the day... it's all about what's stamped into it.

I'm not either, mine is a Coleman. Coleman only marked the year on mil specs, iirc my 252a is a '67.

The other brands pretty much look the same but are marked differently.

Here's a group picture of everything liquid fuel I apparently have, I thought I had another stove, I didn't look that hard... That one is a 413E, didn't see any other stamping... The green lantern is the Thermos brand with a Coleman globe and the purple one is whatever I said it was last time :)

I have this Thermos brand lantern with original box and documents. I couldn't find a date on the lantern, but one of the documents is dated April 1st 1964.

My wife says I have a auction addiction but Hey when I can pick up this lantern and camp stove for $10 each, I think I'll keep my auction habits.

When I took the pics last I failed to realize this lantern was liquid fuel... it was sitting in it's box all innocent... Turns out it's a 228F whatever that means, it has a storage space at the bottom with a leaflet, some mantles and a wrench... I took it off to see if there was a date code and there wasn't... Either it's been around since my mom and her brother were kids or my grandma got it at a garage sale for some reason... It was with a ~gallon Coleman drink storage deal that did have a date code of '74 I think...

I had a meeting the first part of last week in Savannah, GA and camped for a few days in Ocala National Forest on the way back home. Rode Dirtbike a bunch and basked in the glory of the temporary lack of responsibilities. I saw my first ever wild bear, pretty stoked about that. Despite growing up in woods that had them, and all the camping I did, I never saw one until now.

Used one of my liquid fuel Colemans for cooking. One perc is my coffee and the other is water for a dehydrated meal. I like using those when I’m alone in bear country as keeping clean is so much easier.

No cool Coleman scores for anyone lately???

I have a few. I got a free 413 stove of some variant a while back, looked like it got tossed off a roof or something...pretty bent up, and absolutely gross, but it fired right up and the tank is in good shape. I was just going to keep it for a porch stove when I need to do fish fries or whatever and make a mess... Then, recently, I got a pretty nice 413G stove that was missing the tank, so I figured I'd keep it and just set the nasty one out on the curb. It's there right now if anyone needs it. :poop:

Passed on a nice '72 dated 220 lantern... thrift store wanted $35.

Passed on a REALLY nice 286 lantern, thrift store wanted $40 and I could have got it for half off but I have at least one already... someone else will be very happy.

Last weekend we camped at the lake with some friends and I got tasked with making breakfast tacos for 8 adults and 10 kids so I brought the big 3 burner stove and my skottle. That was really a treat, I had scrambled eggs going on the skottle, sausage in a skillet on one burner, two other burners running a griddle to warm up tortillas, and also my little dual fuel single burner running to make coffee in the percolator. Really worked well, nothing got cold and I could crank out food fast. The big stove almost never gets used but it totally shines for stuff like that!
