Coleman Liquid Fuel

I keep hoping to find one of these... it would really fit into my "sportsman" collection of things.

Here's a neat little fella I picked up today for $10 at Goodwill. Normally, I pass on 425 stoves because they're so common, unless they are either in excellent condition or very cheap or preferably both. This one is a bit dirty, but cheap, and has the added bonus of unique features. The 425 A, B, and C models are (IMO) cheap, sheet metal junk - but the wire bails that hold the lid closed and double as a stand are kinda cool. This one is a 425D, which from what I can tell was only made in 1965 and 1966 and has the newer style chassis but the older style lid clips/stand. Unfortunately this one did not come with a fuel tank and instead has a propane conversion piece included. Although this one is a bit rough, this is the first one I've seen and it's not "too nice" so I'm gonna keep it and run it.

That's cool...

Running propane you could even make toast... lol

Neat video on mantles:

I learned a lot on that and the previous video he did. It looks like he's doing a video on dual fuel and gas mantel lights in the future.

Amber globes... I like.

Not so in your face as clear for area lighting and way fewer bugs.

Good idea. That is one thing I dislike about the modern lanterns. They bring in every bug from the surrounding area because they are so bright.

Sweet! Looks great on that lantern. An amber globe is on my short list of things I need for sure.

The crazy old doomsday guy who's house I'm cleaning has a bunch of old laterns and stoves. Scored some nice cast iron cookware too. When I get home I'll have to post pics so you can all tell me if any of it is good. :icon_rofl:

Got 6 solar panels and a control box too but no idea how I'd get them home.

The 425e is working nicely this morning.

Do you have two coffee pots?
???

No. One big pot to boil water for all uses. The French press is plastic. It can't go on the stove more than once.

I thought the giant blue one was a percolator at first too.

The old 290 was helping pack last night:
