cold weather issues

I've got a 1990 bronco 2 with the 2. 9 in it. Its been abit of a money hole with repairs.
As of late every time the temp dips down it refuses to start properly or start at all. It'll take some cranking over to get it to start then once it starts idling it only lasts a few seconds before sharply shutting off. Though when the temp outside rises like this morning it starts up with no problems and runs strong.

Any advice would be a great help.

Check your fluids in your battery. If there lower than the plates it wont have much for cca. (cold cranking amps) My brain is not workin 100% today so thats all I can think of. hahaha

no wouldnt be fuel filter. could be the conputer is moisture sensative, and when it cools the moisture in the air condences on the computer, causing it to not start.

just a thought. ask ADSM, or Allan D.

If it is cranking normally at cold temps but not starting, check fuel and spark while cranking.

See if giving it some throttle helps any.

What are we calling "cold"?

I`m voting for the moisture thing inspect all the wiring thoroughly for any cracks or bare wires pull all your connectors apart clean them good with electrical cleaner and use some dielectric grease when putting them together. Once you do that then reset the computer by disconnecting the battery for 1/2 an hour in case it is sensor related you will need to reset the computer anyway for performance. Run it for 20 mins or so then pull the codes just for giggles.

I had this exact thing last winter. on my 88 that I put a 4.0 in. Much trouble shooting and pulling of hair lead me to the intank fuel pump. Seems the pump would freeze up mechanically, leave it in the garage overnight and it warmed and moved again. I checked all the above suggested itams and replaced the rail pump, draining/blowing out all fuel lines, changed the filter, FPR and ran seafoam through the gas. Didn't have a fuel pressure tester to check it I just figured that was the only thing left. Turnd out to fix mine. It started and ran fine after I changed the in tank pump even after sitting out in -40F. Good luck!

Yeah it seems when the key is turned to the ready position the fuel pump isnt wanting to come on when it starts getting alittle chilly outside. any advice?

I tryed a bottle but it didn't have any effect. if i go out every hour like i will have to at work and idle it keep it mildly warmed up it'll be fine. not sure why its being temp sensetive.
