Cold start idle

My credo
to prevent Found On the Road Dead, Fix Or Repair Daily
My BMWs may run enriched for a few seconds. The 4.0 ohv runs about 1500 Rpm. After 10 minutes or so, the idle is around 700-800 rpm. Sorta like an automatic choke. Is this normal? TIA
