I poop in the furnace.
I love this dudes channel, they do all sorts of crazy experiments but I found this one particularly interesting. They make a clear valve cover and oil pan and see how the engine oil flows in freezing temps. The engine never quite runs right but it's still interesting to see the flow to the camshaft at -30 Celsius I.e. basically none. They have an earlier video showing oil flow in the heated garage and oil just pours over the cam...

Makes me very glad I invested in an oil pan heater on my truck. I might buy one for the fiesta now too.

Just getting started on the video now...

Would be interesting to see how it behaves on various weights of oil.

Yea I dunno what kinda oil they are using, and its Russia so who knows how good the quality is. Be neat to see them do comparisons.

If you watch the first video where they test it at normal temps they don't fill it enough at first and you can see all the nasty cavitation from air being mixed in. The oil basically turns to froth.

In the winter of 81-82 there was an additive omitted from Quaker State oil that caused it to have the consistency of cottage cheese at low temps. Our local Buick/Olds dealer had Quaker State in their bulk system and a yard full of cars with seized engines. It's amazing anything survives a winter of cold starts, even with liquid oil in the pan.

Apparently it was straight mineral oil.
