I have 2.9 1986 ford ranger 5 speed 1350 trasfer case etc
It seems when it really cold out that the tranny and transfer case are really slowing down the motor from turnning over and starting, i cannot use my remote start because if it starts it will move forward or try too. I have put in lucus synthetic oil, replaced the battery cables and even bought the biggest baddes battery with lots of min reserve because of this.
Any one have any thoughts on what might be causeing this Im thinking clutch drag ??:no2:

Holy wayward theories, batman!!

The clutch is engaged if nobody is pushing on the pedal.

If either the transmission OR transfer case is in neutral with the vehicle on level pavement, and the vehicle moves when the engine is running, I'd be worried. And it shouldn't be the lubricant.....this isnt a slushbox.

Moreover, the manufacturers of remote starters don't recommend that their units are installed on manual tranny equipped vehicles....safety hazard.

furthermore, when the transmission is in neutral, no power is being transfered to the t-case, so it wouldnt have any effect one way or the other. if your clutch is dragging, it also shouldnt effect the vehicle in neutral. sounds like something else is going on.
