Hey guys I have a quick question about the coils on my lift. I have the 5.5 superlift and the front coils are not straight when mounted. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is this normal. I don't have the extended radius arms, could that be the problem. I will post a pic if needed when. I get home from work this evening.

Thanks
Daniel

even without extended radius arms you should still have a drop bracket for them? im assuming you mean they curve toward the back of the vehicle? whats your caster set at?

i seem to remember that i tried to install my 3.5 eb springs with stock arms and i had a similiar issue because the caster was way out of whack due to no drop brackets for the radius arm or extended arms, also i couldnt align it anywhere near what it needed to be.

pics please?

I do have the drop brackets for the radius arms. I get off work shortly I'll be home by 5 so I'll get a good pic and get it posted.

It looks almost as if the axle is rotated slightly forward (caster). Did the kit come with radius arm drop brackets? I can't tell from the pic.

he says that he has the drop brackets.

i would put the tires on the rig and let it down to compress those springs, i bet it will straighten up a bit. even if not, if you look around you will see people that have done sas and there springs are in funky positions.

i would highly suggest a set of extended radius arms, i didnt think they would make that big of a difference but the ride quality goes up a bunch with them. also you will actually be able to use what these springs have to offer. the drop brackets do nothing more than make the truck driveable with lift springs.

thats normalish unladen.

whats it look like with the weight on it...????

if the parts are correct it will settle out.

Sorry everyone I was busy the last couple days. This project is taking forever due to me working 6 days a week and kids playing ball. I do have the drop brackets installed for the radius arms although it doesn't seem like they are giving me enough angle to straighten the axle. I figured if I build my own arms I could maybe get them straighter. And possibly straighten the coil as well.

When I lifted my ranger it looked kinda like that with 4 inch lift coils and 4 inch drop brackets. It got alot better when I put the weight on it.........a buddy of mine lifted his Explorer 6 inches, and he made extended radius arms because 4 inch drop brackets, with 6 inch lift coils made it difficult to set the camber/caster.
It will get alot better once you set it down, but it will still look a little like that. Extended radius arms are definitely the way to go, but you could wait a while if you don't have time/money right now.

Also, a superlift destroyed my differential. the drop bracket that holds the right side I-beam (the bracket bolts to the left side of the engine crossmember) hit the differential, and it got full of water. I know older superlifts had an issue that the differential would hit that drop bracket. I think they fixed the problem, but it would be worth checking.......even if you have the old style, it can be modified.

i would recommend clearancing your diff bracket before you get all the stuff put back on, just cut 1 hole off. pictures are on page 2 of my build thread, link below. also, i think i have about 100 bucks into my extended radius arms.
