Coil Spring Noise

I have a 1990 ranger s-cab 4x4 stock ride, everytime i hit a bump on the drivers side it makes an awfull noise. I can spray the top of the coil spring with pb blaster and the noise will go away for a couple weeks. What do I need to do to fix this? BTW the metal spring hanger looks to be in good shape.

i must be the only person to have this problem, ill tear it apart and see if i can post some more details or figure something out

are you sure it is the coil spring making the noise?check the radius arm bushing.they are know to go bad, giving a hell of a noise at times.fwiw.

There is a plastic bushing that sits between the bottom of the spring and the spring perch. If it's missing or broke the spring could make strange noises.

I've had the coils on mine make a creak-like noise in the past, sometimes simply jacking up the truck and "shifting" the coil around in the mount ¼" or so will shut it up.

Another trick might be to grind down the corner on the end of the upper coil winding of the driverside coil so it's rounded off a bit (this way it's not gouging into the pocket at the top of the coil bucket as much).

alright, thanks for the suggestions, ill try to take the spring off and grind the edge off and re-install it at about a 1/4 of a turn more.
