I just want to make sure I understand this correctly.

If I'm not mistaken, as I stand in front of the engine the cylinders are as follows:

3 - 6
2 - 5
1 - 4

But the coil pack is arranged:

3 - 5
2 - 6
1 - 4

Could someone please confirm... or correct me?

93 Ranger, V6 4.0

Where the cylinders are located isn't as important as the firing order. The coil will be most reliable when it's connections on top are grouped based on each pair of cylinders that fire together, which is dictated by the firing order.

Hey KC,

That coil pack wiring order you posted,
are you SURE that's the way your wires go?
I got a '96 4.0 and my coil order front to back, is;

1 - 5
2 - 6
3 - 4

Should be same for all years.

RCC, that certainly looks right.

The coil pack is LABELLED. Clean all the dirt off it and you'll be able to see which is which.
