Codes PO171 and PO174

check engine light came on in my 2000 Ford Ranger , took it to a local shop to have the check engine coded....they told me it was related to the transmission but when I checked this site I found a discussion saying it was the MAF sensor that needed cleaning. I have done this but the CE light remains on. Any insight...since I am 140 miles from the closest Ford dealer.

I will ask you another question. You say you have a 2000 ranger and you posted in the 2.9L engine forum. Do you have a 2.9 in your 2000
