Plugged into diagnostics port and the mechanic got no signal whatsoever.
Kept getting an error telling him that his device cable was disconnected so he assumes there's no signal going to the plug on my truck. Hmmm
Anyone have an idea why there's no signal ? The reason I tested is :
The truck shakes, rattles & shutters upon cold start & flooding smell is VERY obvious but after a minute of burn off it clears up & is drivable. It downshifts, accelerates & goes like all get out when I cramp it, but mileage has deteriorated from around 18+ mpg down to 8mpg now.
It runs & idles too well to suspect a cracked head or poor compression, but my original gut feeling was a stuck injector (or more than one) since all this started after I ran out of gas & eventually discovered the tank was rusted thru. (May have gotten some crud in the fuel lines replacing tank or filter.)
Could a FPR have pressure so high as to cause this although there's no visible sign or smell of fuel in it's vacuum line ?
I'm a step away from pulling the fuel rail, key on, build up pressure & see what goes on with the injectors. Alot of running rich issues on the forum & talk of poor mileage, but could "open loop" or ANYTHING ELSE cause it to be THAT poor ?
