Code 54--it's killing me!!

[90--Ranger--]

Hi All,

I've got a '90 Ranger AT w/190k miles

I've had a Check Engine light for a while now. I ran the code and it came up:

KOEO:
Code 54

KOER:
Code 98
Code 54

I replaced the air charge temp sensor and erased the codes. After doing this I got the check engine light again, with the same codes.

Any advice??

try swapping computers, it seems to me that the internal voltage regulator in the eec might be shitting the bed.

Are the computers still available, or will I need to go to the local pull-a-part?

Codes/Probable solutions.

You could try taking the ecm/prom and having it "flashed." (it's a '90, so I don't know if it's still refered to as 'flashing the prom'.) this would be a little less expensive than buying a whole new ECM. Also, they do still make these for that vehicle-trust me, I work at a parts store. lol. I'm new to TRS and I hope that this is some help.

Thanks Josh! I called the local Ford dealer's parts dept and they suggested going to NAPA... I hope that I don't have to be given CPR after hearing the price for the unit!!
