Cna you put the rear LSD into the front?

Yeah, those are both my bad. I didn't even check what SLA full-carriers were available, and I thought the Torsens were a rare option, but a quick search says '06 Level-2 should always be Torsen rear.

If he's dead-set on a rear locker, that only makes what's in there now more valuable for resale.

Yes, keep the Torsen. A Trac-Lok would be a step down. I liked my stock Torsen so much that I also installed one in the front. The front Torsen is not always available, but it works very well. Lockers have too many quirks to deal with in my opinion. Good LSDs like Torsen or Truetrac come very close to what you can get with lockers unless you get into some very extreme rock crawling.

Near the beginning of the year, Torsen send me a message saying they had the LSD for the Dana 35 SLA in stock. You might want to check with them and see if they still have them.

As far as a Dana 35 LSD for a rear axle working in the front axle, unless everything is setup the same as a rear axle, I doubt it. There is only one way to find out for sure but I wouldn't want to drop that kind of money just for an experiment that might not work.

the specs on that are 8.8 axle, 10 bolts 28 splines.
matches the rear ok, not the front.
front is 7.652 (? ) 8 bolt 27 spline and is physically smaller.
