the other day i got into a fender bender, this girl rear ended me. the next day my clutch wouldnt disengage.my trucks a 00 3.0l 5 speed,so i looked underneath the truck through the cover on the bottom of the trans and seen movement in the clutch but when i try to shift it wont go into gear and when if i try to start it with it in gear it will move forward any clue if this is related or at least whats wrong so i can get it fixed thanks ahead of time

the clutch works like a hydraulic jack you use to lift up your car, hydraulic fluid is forced down a line into a hydraulic ram in your transmission. in order for the clutch to become free to spin, there must be enough movement in the clutch to release the pressure plate and allow the clutch to spin. the clutch must move at least an inch... just a little bit of movement isnt going to be enough. you should really look at it hard. if you get quite a bit of movement, then something isnt allowing the clutch to physically spin. my first guess is something caused the hydraulic line to leak. my second guess is getting rear ended compressed the drivetrain forward and somehow jammed the clutch into the flywheel. if it was me, I would make double and triple sure the clutch is moving enough, then I would try the patented low_five clutch breakfree technique.

what the low five method and would my clutch lock like that if i drive it daily last thing if there isnt enough movement what could it be and what if there is enough movement cause i thought it was about an inch

another thing is the clutch started to make it hard to disengage and shift the day it wentout when it went out it bucked forward a little when i tried to start it then i put it in reverse i had to kind of clam it then i couldnt get into gear again. that was it i towed it home

there is no possibility of the driveline being compressed and the clutch jammed up. you crawled under the truck so i don't think you saw any broken bellhousing bolts or a huge gap between the engine and trans.

is the pedal really soft or does it feel normal? do you see any fluid leakage at all? even a seep is serious

well if the slave cylinder moves as much as it should its probably a bad pressure plate

Sounds like you need to pull the tranny to see and while your in there put all new parts clutch plate flywheel slave and to save headaches a new master cyl couldn`t hurt either then you will be done with it for a while.

pump the clutch pedal and see if it makes any difference at all. just to be sure its not a hydraulic problem.

other than that about all you can do it replace the pressure plate and if you're smart, replace everything else including the slave cylinder

alright ill do that thanks and i tried pumping it before and it didnt do anything also anything i can check for to see if its something serious and how hard is the job

alright so today i went to buy all the stuff i needed for it got home and decided to try the truck once more before i did everything and it just started working with the truck jacked up so i lowered it down and it started driving fine the clutch may have been a little weak but nothing really is there any possibility someone could tell me what this could be from or if i should start replacing everything thanks in advance

alright so does that mean i still got to replace everything or should it be alright the truck only has 100,000 on it and i work like an hour away so there is a lot of highway mileage
