Ive bled the son of a bitch over and over and I have good pedal feel, but it will not disengage the clutch. is it possible the clutch has rusted to the flywheel after sitting for the winter? even with the clutch pushed in, it will start as if the clutch was all the way out and start in gear. there isnt even slight clutch slippage.

so to test my theory, I jacked the back up in the air, got the wheels spinning and tried hitting the brakes with the clutch pedal pushed in. no change, but I did bust a brake line.

luckily your brake line blew out while you were not driving.

with the engine off crawl under the truck with the sight plug removed and as an assistant pushes on the pedal you should see the throw out bearing move in and out. if it does move significantly you need a new pressure plate.

if it does not move or moves very little you need to bleed the master cyl

i see it in there pushing on the fingers of the pressure plate. What the F could have gone wrong?

Ive seen the clutch stick to the flywheel before after sitting for a long time, only on a VW 1.8. Get it goin in first and with the clutch pedal pressed, jump on and off the gas. This, although I know its hell on the drivetrain, should break it loose.

how much does it move? my pressure plate recently failed and the clutch would not release.

i took it off and pushed the fingers of the pressure plate and half of them were very soft. it was a bad diaphragm spring.

it moves quite a bit. the history with this truck is that I pulled the engine out of a bad framed truck and set it in this new truck and left the truck outside all winter. the poor bastard is probably rusty as hell. it rains here almost every day. it was driving fine before I started working on it, so Im gambling that the PP did not go bad.

update. I finally got a friend lined up and we push started the truck on a good long road. I had started it in 4lo and drove it to the end of the block and back, but that didnt break it free. It would spin the tires and keep going. put it in 2hi and floored it in 1st and broke it free. finally, my auto to manual swap is complete.

i guess i should try this because my truck sat for a while also

Make sure the reservoir is full.

Close the bleeder and toss the wrench into the yard.

Press the pedal all the way down S-L-O-W-L-Y.

Then slip your foot off it and let it snap up from the floor.

Do this THREE TIMES

Walk away, Just Walk away, throw rocks at your dog, start a fight with your wife
anything, but stay away for 45min or so.

Repeat.

IF you don't start getting a pedal after the fourth or fifth time, the "reed valve" above the top piston seal is gummed in place.
