I have a 1988 bronco II 2.9L V6. When I press in the clutch there is no resistance. The clutch is cable type which goes into the bellhousing. The clutch started feeling lose after work and the next morning I could not even get it into gear without grinding and force. My question is...is there a slave cyinder in the bellhousing that the cable attaches too or something else. Everytime something goes out on this thing, something is always different than what the manual has. For instance my brake porportional valve is in the rear frame rail with a check valve. This is getting so frustrating. Hope someone has knows what it might take to get my clutch working again. ANY IDEAS?

Slave or clutch disc. Check your slave and the fluid before ripping off your transmission.

I filled it with a half quart of fliud until it came out of the fill port. Then started it and pumped the clutch A few times and nothing.
There is nothing the looks like a slave cylinder anywhere around the trans. The clutch cable goes directly in the bellhousing. Whatever its attached to I will not know until I pull the trans which I was hoping not to do.

Slave may be inside the bellhousing. I'm not sure, but it sounds like you need a new clutch to me.

I was thinking the samething which if it is..thats not to expensive or time consuming. But now the weather just turned to hell so I have to wait til tomorrow to see what is wrong in the bellhousing.
