ok i have a 85 ranger 4x4, it has a 2.8 with a 5 speed.
well when i got the truck the clutch sliped well i droped the trany and found out that the clutch disk was in backwards(its a brand new clutch). i fliped it around and put it all back together. now it still slips any ideas on whats wrong?

If it was in backwards it could have been damaged. The fact that it slips leads me to believe it has probably become glazed from the constant slipping. Did it looks odd when you took it out? Was the flywheel blue in any spots to indicate extreme heat?

When they clutch disk is in backwards it tends to not work at all, the fact that yours did makes me wonder if something else may be damaged along with it.

yeah there were a few small spots of discoloration on the flywheel, the rest of the clutch looked new.

it most likely is damaged, the idiot who put it in backwards made a mistake, i replaced mine at 85000 and took me 5 hours, no problems when you do it right
