Clutch size question

I have a 94 Ranger with 5 speed manual tranny. Have a vibration that starts at about 65 MPH but can let off gas and it will stop when speeds get to about 60 MPH and have a "knocking" at low speed and when clutch pedal is depressed, which is almost to the floor so I am thinking time for new clutch. Local box auto parts store says clutch size is 8-7/8 23 tooth spline 1inch input shaft. Online I find 8-7/8 and 9 inch clutch, so question is will that 1/8 in difference be a problem?

I haven't heard of a 9 inch clutch for these trucks, just the 8-7/8", and a 10" (for 4.0L).

I would suggest getting a LUK (brand) 8-7/8" unit.

FWIW, a vibration that is vehicle speed-dependent (rather than engine RPM-dependent) is not likely to be a clutch issue... That's more likely to be a driveshaft (u-joint) or tire balance issue.
Usually the first sign of clutch problems is it slipping under load (such as if you floor the throttle in 4th or 5th gear, the engine RPM rises without a corresponding increase in vehicle speed).

A noise with the clutch pedal depressed could be the throwout or pilot bearing though. Couldn't hurt to maybe get an opinion from a trans shop before you rip it apart.

Hope that helps.

4X4 Junkie thanks for the info and maybe I should have phrased the vibration part better as it goes away when taking foot off gas pedal and not as in slowing down and if it is pilot or throw out bearing I figure I might as well change clutch while in there as I can tell it is getting worn by how much pedal as dropped and I have noticed some slippage. Here is the link in regards to the 9 inch clutch http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=6752452&cc=1137967&jsn=467

Seems only that one brand (a brand I've never heard of) is calling it 9"... If I was to guess, they are rounding off the size (being imprecise about details like that is a red flag in my book).
Stick with LuK. You shouldn't regret it (they made the OEM clutch assy).

Don't forget about resurfacing (or replacement, if necessary) of the flywheel also.
