Clutch questions

Hello,
I have a 2004 Ranger 4x4 4.0-V6

I have been having problems where the clutch pedal will go to the floor, and the reservoir will be about 1/2 inch low... I refill it & pump the clutch and everything works for about a day, then usually in the morning the same thing happens. I had the clutch replaced about two years ago, but i don't think they replaced the master or slave cylinders. Also, before the clutch was replaced, the reservoir had become unhooked from the fuse box and was hanging sideways, I think it got some air into it. But that was 2 years ago, and before I had the clutch replaced.

It has worked ok until about 2 months ago, the problem above would happen about every week or so, now it's every day for the last week.

I don't see any leaks anywhere, but the fluid is going somewhere.

What would you guys look at first? I have never tried bleeding the clutch.

Do you think the clutch itself is ok? should i replace the master cylinder & slave cylinder?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

ADDITION: I did just realise that there is fluid leaking from the bellhousing. Would this mean a blown slave cylinder?

Yup!

Sounds like a leaky slave to me.
 
if i replace the slave myself, are there any bleeding tips? from what I have heard, the master cylinder is the hardest part to bleed, is this right?

Also, any tips on replacement?

I have done alot of vehicle work, just never messed with a hydraulic clutch before.
 
when you remove the clutch line it will seal, you then need to pull the transmission out, pull the slave off the input shaft, should be 3 bolts, put the new slave on, then the tranny, hook the clutch line back to the tranny with the slave bleeder open and the cover off the master resivor, make sure that is full, let the fluid come out of the slave until it has no bubbles in it, keed the master resivor full, once a solid stream comes out, tighten the bleeder put the cover on the master resivor and check the clutch pressure out, first at the pedal with the truck off, then make sure it releases and engaged correctly, repeat as needed
 
If you lose the vaccuum on the master cylinder it has to be bench bled. . .i didnt believe that it had to be but u reinstalled it an pumped all day. . .tool it back pff an had it bled in 5 mins
