I may need to replace my clutch soon and was checking prices on Rock Auto.
They show two clutch setups, one is a self aligning clutch. It's been a long time since i have did a clutch job and not familiar with this.
So whats the difference between a self aligning clutch and a non self aligning clutch.

I think you mean self adjusting. The later Rangers have a self adjusting clutch that adjusts as it wears that I think keeps the feel of the clutch the same. The clutch slave cylinder is automatically adjusts so you really don't need the self adjusting clutch if you don't mind the pressure of the clutch pedal changing as the clutch wears.

There may be other reasons for the self adjusting clutch but it apparently is not mandatory since it is offered both ways.

The self adjusters are better. Given a choice that is what I would go with.

Thanks for the reply's. I guessed the self adjusting clutch was better seeing that it's twice the price. But i think i will go with the other choice. My truck has over 170 thousand miles on it and i plan on keeping it maybe another year or two. so the less money i have to put into it the better.

One more question. I do i find out what diameter clutch i need, 8 or 9 inch?

Thanks
