Hey everyone.. I found a 1995 Ford Ranger 2.3L 4cyl 5spd. manual online and it is in good shape. I am thinking of buying it. The guy said it needs a new pressure plate and a slave cylinder. When replacing these, should you replace the whole clutch system or just replace the pressure plate and slave cylinder? You know what people say, "since the transmission is already apart, you might as well replace it while its out"...kinda thing. Thanks

The guy what is selling it mentioned quote
"it won't switch out of and into gear, but the truck runs great...... I think it's the pressure plate, I know that there's a small leak cause I've been refilling it"
What does that mean?

sure why not

yes, replace everything as long as the transmission is out I would also replace the rear main seal while you are there there is no since in doing all that work just to go back in there later

one last note you need a special tool to remove the clutch hydro line

Replace everything, would'nt bother with the rear main unless it is leaking. I never used the "special" tool,, one or two small screwdrivers will do the trick. It may take awhile to get the hydro line off, but with patience and time it will release. Good luck!

Most clutch kits one would buy at an auto parts store will contain the disk, pressure plate, throwout bearing and pilot bearing. Some even come with an alignment tool. So there are all your parts right there, around 120$

The slave cylinder is a part by itself and will be about 90$

If you run into problems gettin the tranny out or the quick disconnect for the slave, let us know :)
