clutch problems

i have a 1993 ford ranger with a 2.3 4 cylender engine. my clutch went out so i replaced it. i put everything back together, tried to bleed it and i was getting liquid out but no pressure in the clutch pedal. i replaced the master cylender and got pressure but it wont go into gear.
can anybody help?

the master gets air trapped in it, you have to u-bolt it and turn it upside down to bleed it.

2 x I agree. I did the same on mine.

still doesnt work. it seems like there is more pressure in the clutch pedal but it still wont go into gear.

any more ideas???

how did you try bleeding it? i've found the most effective way is to open the bleeder and just let gravity take over. every time i've seen someone trying to bleed a clutch by pumping the pedal, it never works.

Gravity bleeding rarely works with this system. With the master flipped, it might work fine, but I wouldn't attempt it in the stock position.

i tried flipping the master and it didnt work. i ended up taking out the tranny again and i bench bled it. put it back in and still wont go into gear.

Do you have solid pressure to the at the pedal?

yes i do. it feels normal

Did you have the flywheel machined? What was the part no. and brand of the clutch set you used?

Something's dragging the input shaft of the transmission.

could be the pilot bearing. did you replace it when you did the clutch? try putting it in gear then try starting it with the clutch in and see if it wants to take off or if it stays there.

Yeah try the pilot bearing.I thought I had a bad clutch in my 88 once and when I pulled everything out it all looked good so I did some more investigating and found that the piolt bearing had disintegrated and was letting the input wonder around so I replaced it and put everything back togeather and it fine after that.

i put it in gear and tried to start it and it sounds like it wants to die. it wants to take off at the same time. if it is in neutral and i try to start it, it sounds fine but it wont go into gear.

It sounds like it's trying to die because the engine and trans are still tied together through drag on the input shaft. In gear, it's trying to move the truck, so the wheels not turning is dragging the engine down making it sound like it's going to die.
