Clutch problem when hot solved

The clutch on my son's '94 always engaged right off the floor and had been getting worse when it got hot. The master cylinder started leaking the other week and we replaced it. If you do this do yourself a favor and watch the videos by perfectionclutch about bleeding ranger MCs. After an hour and a half of trying to bleed the line after it was drained out (gravity, vacuum bleeding, forcing it from the top with a syringe) we saw the video and pulled the MC out. Trust me on this- pull the inner fender and hang the MC up to do it. We were hoping that the MC would fix the low pedal problem but it was still the same and it got to the point that the truck was undriveable when it got hot.

To make a long story short, the original clutch line (on a '94 anyway) has about an 8" section of flex hose between the metal end for the MC connection and the hard plastic line- the new one we got didn't have it. The flex part was swelling when you pushed the clutch, it got worse when it got hot and got softer.

I haven't seen this suggested as a fix so I hope this someone some trouble. Hold the flex line while someone pushes the pedal and you can tell. The MC probably only moves a couple of CC's and it wouldn't take much swelling to offset that, With the new line the clutch engages about halfway up from the floor.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the tip. Could you provide a pic of the line part affected?

I like to see the photo as well. That issue mirrors ours almost to a 'T'. The replacement master/line from the one from the salvage yard seems to have cured some of it. It's not 100%, but it's better then it was.

I couldn't find a picture that looks like the line we had but it's the original one as far as I know. The Dorman ine we put on has a metal section that attaches to the MC with a roll pin. The rest is hard rigid plastic. The one we took out had about 8" of brake hose looking flexible pipe below the MC. You could feel it expand in width and length when the pedal was pushed.
