Clutch Hose, is this for a M5OD?

I have a 1989 2.9 with a FM146 in it. I changed out the slave cylinder, and ran a new clutch hose because the one I have is pretty scored up. However this thing doesn't look anything like what I have in there.

It's significantly longer and curled like a pigs tail, well not literally, but that thing has way too many bends in there. I've twisted it around as best I can to get it, but it seems to have alot of pressure on the line, seems any hard jolts would snap it. On top of that I can't seem to get it to securely fit into the slave, it has a clip instead of the interior clamp like the old one did, whats the deal here?

Hard to say from just that link. I may be for the M5. Pics of the actual line you got would be helpful, particularly the end of the line.

original line and slave

This new slave doesn't have the inner lock ring thing like the old one, but a clip that slides in the side, from what I can tell there's nothing for that clip to hold in. I can slide the line into the new slave, but there's nothing to hold it in there. If this is the correct line, why is it so different from stock? This thing drops down, u's up, then u's down, then curls, then shoots out. It doesn't seem like a very good design, there's alot of bending pressure on it.

That's the slave cylinder. I just don't see how the line stays in the port, there doesn't seem to be any locking mechanism other than that U clip that inserts in the side of the slave cylinder port, and it doesn't have anything to grab onto to hold. The end that goes into the master cylinder, is it supposed to have a little o ring on it?

The end that goes to the master is supposed to have a little o-ring on it to help it seal. It's held in place by a roll pin.

By "u-clip" I assume you are referring to the rectangular object with 2 hexagonal holes and a U in one end in the picture at Advance's website. That is a release tool, not a clip.

If your new slave didn't have the lock ring then it's been mis-manufactured.

The clip I'm refering to is the grey one visible in the picture above, its on the end of the slave cylinder port, the inlet for the clutch hose. If you look at it, it looks like a crooked U or maybe a V.

Ok, I think I see it. In the middle picture. The line should slide past that and the clip should grab a lip on the line fitting.

This is why I hate FM146s. They have all the worst parts of the various line releases that Ford has used.
