Having a problem with the temp gauge in the cluster. I have a 95 w/odb2. I have a scanner hooked up and it will show the water temp to be between 192-202.. seems as though the sender is working.

Anyone have an idea of what could be causing the gauge not to read?

There are two senders. There is one for the computer, and one for the gauge. The one you are seeing on the scanner is the engine one which is much more reliable than the gauge sender. The gauge sender is, quite frankly, a cheap piece of crap. Nearly everyone's goes bad at some point. Your best bet is to replace it; it is threaded into the block below the oil pressure switch. $5 at Autozone.

So after taking this out, getting a nice faceful of coolant... The guage is still dead. Maybe a bad cluster? Is there a chance that the sender wire is not making it to the dash?

To test the wire, try grounding it. Should take the gauge to H.
