cluster swap issues

so i swapped in an 03 explorer white face cluster in my '95 ranger... definately not plug 'n plug as ppl have posted.

no theft light, coolant temp gauge, check engine light, fuel cap light stays on...any idea on what wires i need to repin to make it fully functional? :icon_confused:
 
Is the chip in the cluster from the 03 or your 95?

it's from the the '03...didn't know i should change them. nothing in the info i found on the swap said anything about changing it.

Change it and try again.
As for the wires to repin. check the position on said lights on the old cluster.
Ask eduardo95. hes my cousin and just did the same a while ago.
Ask him how he did the repin deal.

here's what i have found from comparing diagrams for both clusters, still need to move the wires but from what i have gathered it should work.

connector c214 pin 11(dkblu\ltgrn) move to pin 6 = antitheft light
connector c215 pin 3(blk\org) to connector c214 pin 11 = door ajar
connector c216 pin 3(pnk\ltgrn) to connector c215 pin 9 = check engine

got the coolant gauge and fuel gauge working(loose connection during the swap) everything else is working fine

so its working now? just three re-pins and you use your "old' chip ?
 
By "chip" you are you guys talking about the Anti-Slosh Module, or is the "chip" something else?
 
the chip im referring to is the little circuit board looking thing, about 2" by 2" that snaps into the white housing. reason i chimed in is i have a white face cluster from an 02 (i believe) and id like to use it with my '96 wiring
 
This an old thread. But I just did this cluster in my 95 2.3 without a tach.
My tach reads low.
Coolant and fuel are good
Speedometer and odomete don't function
Check engine light doesn't work.
Volts and oil are good.
Fuel cap is now door ajar.

Anyone to help out?

by chance were you able to resolve the issue? I have a 99 ranger v6 3.0 and I'm having a hell of a time. can someone please help?:sad:
