Cluster Lights

thats what i ordered, should be here tomorrow, and if its nice im doing the install saturday so ill let you know how everything works out

thanks if you can would you post up pics of how everything goes im very new to the inside of cluster and those lights i have not a clue on how to take them out

yeah definitely i should be doing it tomorrow morning

so the bulbs are 74 NOT 194, i borrowed a 74-xHP3 from my friend (we ordered the leds together) and thats what bulbs the new gen rangers need for both cluster and hvac pannel. so ill be doing it again next weekend -___-

to change the bulbs you need to follow these steps:

remove kick plate and panel from under the dash, you will need a 7mm socket for the panel (4 bolts) and a 8mm for the plate (5 bolts)

next the radio bezel must be removed, mine didnt have the bolts under in it because of the aftermarket radio but yours might, then just pull the piece out.

next the dash panel has to be removed, there are 5 7mm bolts, 3 above the cluster and 2 at the bottom, it helps to put your shifter in 1st gear so its easier to pull out.

next the cluster comes out, it has 4 7mm bolts, one at each corner. the shift indicator cable might be a bitch like it was for me so just undo the harnesses and rotate it about the cable

now you can use needle nose pliers to twist out the bulbs, then you take each bulb out of its black holder and replace it with the new led.

for the hvac panel there are 4 7mm bolts and you just pull it forward an replace the bulbs the same way as before

there are a total of 9 bulbs (not including the indicator lights) 7 in the cluster and 2 in the hvac panel. the blue shows through the green filter as a cool blue, it looks good in the daytime but ill get back with pictures of night with all the bulbs in.

so you just take the bulb out of the holder and slide the led in? no resistors or anything?

nope its that easy and with the one bulb it looks like this

actually i think there are only 5 in the cluster 2 of the top ones look like the blinkers, oh well ill do them too

took it with my pos phone, looks a lot better in person

so finally got the new bulbs in and put them in and man they look sweet, the pictures dont do them justice, but i think i will be removing the green film from behind the hvac panel because its a little dark and i heard its easy to do. And they do appear in the pictures to have hotspots but in person they do not.

Funny thing I have a few lights out on my 97 rangers dash and hvac to. I took out the dash and radio and even was able to clean the instruments faces and clean the dust that's been behind their for years. Thanks I to took pics . But now I`m off to the parts store to see if they have new bulbs. Pics to come if anyone wants them.
