I need to replace the cluster in my 92XLT with a 2.3 and a 5 speed. Found one on an 89 ranger with a 2.9 and 5 speed being parted out. Is this going to be a direct replacement? I'd rather not mess with repining the connector if i dont have to. Also if it has a tach will it work properly with my 2.3 since its coming from a 2.9?

What you can do is take off the trim and window from inside the cab once you get the gauges naked you can just pull off the one you want. The speedometer has a cable on it the rest of them the clip on electrical connection is what holds it in there. So you can mix or match dos'nt take long at all.

I just want to swap the complete cluster and not mess with all that. And mine doesn't have a tach. I'm waiting for the guy to get back to me with a picture as a tach is what I want and I cant very well slap it into my current cluster. I just want to know if the gauges will work or if they are calibrated differently based on the engine...
