Clunks on Acceleration

Hi All,

I just bought a used 2002 Ranger 4x4 with an automatic transmission and I'm liking it. Especially after years of driving just a regular sedan. The truck is so much nicer riding higher above the road and the utility of a truck bed is much better than a trunk for me.

Anyway, I'm wondering if it is normal to feel a few slight clunks when gently accelerating from a standstill. It doesn't happen if I accelerate hard nor do I notice anything if I'm already moving. It happens only on gentle acceleration from standstill.

I should also note that I don't actually hear anything, it is strictly feel.

There is usually 2 to 4 clunks and it feels as if different parts of the drive train are engaging one after another.

I had an F150 about 20 years ago and I remember the same clunking feel at times but I don't remember if it happened all the time.

so this is a tsb i can get fixed for freee from FORD?

im havin the same issue

If you are under warranty, yes, it should be free. Print the TSB out and take it with you.
