I just recently put a 4 inch lift on my 1990 ext cab ford ranger it has the 2.9 and I just started noticing a clunking noise coming from my drivers side front tire while im driving. I notice it more when im under 40 mph and its really starting to get annoying. Ive checked almost everything and cannot find where its coming from only hear it when the trucks in motion.

Is it there only in 2wd or does it clunk in 4wd?

I have driven next to a concrete wall to see where a noise is coming from, drivers or passenger side and front or back.

Metal transfers noise very well and the wheels can act like speakers, could be hub catching and clunking drive shaft

its only in 2wd and i think ima pull the hub off and take a good look and see if theres anything loose. its coming from the drivers side front wheel.

yeah, i'd pull the hub/rotor off and make everything is good in there. are they auto hubs?

that would be my guess. i'd find a set of manual hubs. you can find them on here for $50-$100 or you could try a junkyard if there's any near you

yea ill have to run to the local JY and see what they got how hards the swap from auto to manual?

pretty easy, there's a write up in the tech library here.
