So my current phone is taking a crap and we just added a line for my wife but I am not up for a new phone till next April according to my plan soooo I was wondering if a person can pick up a pre-pay thru the same provider and program it to take my number? Thanks

I believe if it's centennial You can change out the sim card. If it's verizon they have to activate it.

Yeah its a verizon, I was just on their site and found a spot to activate a phone but am not sure if that will transfer my number to a new phone.

did this w/ my wifes phone. the hinge broke on hers before she was due to upgrade, and we called them and they switched her number to my old phone (which was no longer being used). They will also let you upgrade early if your equipment breaks, but it does cost more to do it that way. If you have an old phone that is good, just run it until you can upgrade.

btw, when you are eligible for an upgrade, order your phone off the web. much much cheaper, and they will ship it to you in 2 days. takes about 10 15 minutes to activate it, and you can do that all yourself.

Picked up a new Verizon Pre pay phone from wal-mart for $20 and am good to go, Thanks for the input
