Hello,

Well some jackoff put some radiator stop leak in the radiator, and when I went and did the water pump last year, the draincock wouldn't allow anything out. It had a huge buildup of stop leak. So the question is how would I clear this blockage?

Another question, where would I mount the sender for a water temperature gauge? I would like to use that instead of the unreliable factory gauge.

Thanks

Last time I had a plugged up drain, I pulled the lower hose and drained the antifreeze that way (had a bucket under it to catch the stuff). Then I unscrewed the drain plug all the way, stuck a small screwdriver through both the hole for the drain plug and the hole for the drain and wiggled it around to try to loosen things up, then hit it with a direct blast from the hose. Shot some water into the rad and just kept working at the drain (I hooked the lower hose back up of course) until I got it to drain. Then I hosed out the rad as good as I could, and ran some rad cleaner through the system.

Sender for a mechanical water temp gauge mounts where the factory sender is. I'm presuming you're talking about the 88 2.9. Factory sender should be on the front of the motor, I want to say mounted to the lower intake right near the t-stat housing. (btw, if they put stop leak in the rad, you might want to check the condition of your t-stat). IIRC it takes a 1" wrench to get it out and there ain't much room to work. I'd have to try to remember to look at mine an let you know exactly which plug it is, I've been working on an F-150 the past week and I got all that on my mind instead of RBV's, lol.

do what lil blue did but no rad cleaner . i use dawn dish soap in it and water run it for alittle while drian then flush with water did that to a b2 that i had rad was block half way up the rad . after i clean it ran fine for 6 years till i junk it

take it to a Radiator shop.
