Hey, I recently started a cheap bronco project. Its going to be just a trail truck, but it kept going through flex plates...so I bought it and brought it home and pulled the transfercase and transmission as one. I have them in the back of my f150 soaking in purple power cleaner to get the oil and dirt off them and make them nice and new looking again. I was planning on powerwashing it...is there any precautions I should take, everything is unhooked, should i plug up the holes or just watch out for them?, I am planning on changing out the fluid anyhow.

I'd cover up the vents and seals.

And just use engine degreaser. Power washing is serious overkill.

Who the F looks at your transmission on the trail anyway?

Transmission rebuilders often just paint them.

I just hate lifting and muscleing something that is covered in 1/4" of road grime...i think some place it has an oil leak on the engine because the tranny is covered in that and dirt.

i have always wired bush them to get them some what clean . with the flex plat has you put it in spry with break clean to get all the shit off of it, like oils from your fingers.
