Clarke Welders

I dont know dick about welding or welders either. I have been thinking about picking up one from a Pawn Shop, reading up on welding and teaching my self. I want to fab stuff like sliders, bumpers, etc. so thicker stuff. What is the minimum ratings i should be looking for on a machine?

*Sorry for the thread jack but i think many welding 'tards like myself will benifit greatly from this.

I wont be using it for anything thicker than 1/4 inch at most, and that will be rare. ill normally be below 1/8th inch on just regular repair stuff.

I think i finally picked a welder!
The Hobart Handler 125 its on sale at northern tool for $340 with free shipping.
