i have a 2003 3.0 with a 5 speed manual trans . i have been noticing a faint clanking sound from under my truck between the RPM range of 2000 on the way down to 1000 rpm it happens when i am moving or parked it dont matter if the clutch engaged or not . i got under the truck and i cant tell that the hell it is but you have to tap the gas to make the sound . any ideas ??:icon_confused:

Maybe loose heat shields? Faint clanking noises are hard to determine over the internet lol.

its not a heat shield i took the truck to midas and had a free exhaust inspection they welded the broken heat sheild . it still making the noise .

it almost sounds like its coming from the top of the trannie . is there some kind of metel plate that can be loose on it or something in the bell housing area
