Hello,
I just purchased an 1988 ford ranger and it was running great. I was washing the engine with a degreaser and now it will not start. I check for spark and got it but I think I am not getting fuel. Is there something that might have came unpluged when I was spraying the engine off or is there something I can check to see if my fuel pump is pumping. I have already checked the switch under the dash and all fuses are ok. Any help will be highly appreciated.
Thank you.

all you have to do to hear the fuel pump prime is leave the door open and turn the key, you should hear a whining noise, that is the fuel pump priming

dizzy

Does that year have a distributor?

Open it up, wipe out the condensation.
Start the truck.
Send me $20.00 :icon_rofl:

yeah it should be the distributor im almost 100% sure it is.

Start truck
Send me $10.00 (for reassuring Dennis's answer)
Cash or check is fine.

Are you getting any gas into the cylinders? Fuel pressure tester would certainly show if it's working properly. It could be that the fuel pump isn't coming on; or the fuel pump is coming on, but you have no injector pluse.

Did you check fuses or fuse links? 88 does not have a power distributor box but uses fuse links, different from the fuse panel inside the truck.

IIRC, there is a way to trip the fuel pump to run continiously from the diagnostic connector.

Everything seems to be working other than the fuel pump.

FIXED IT! Fuel pump relay.
