Cigarette Lighter outlet works for anything but the cigarette lighter

When I push the lighter in, my fuse blows. I can use this outlet for any other adapter. The lighter seems to be in good condition, I'm not sure what could go wrong with the lighter itself. Anybody have any ideas?

+1 Sometimes the lighters will outlast the car and sometimes they stop working early,especially if it was dropped. You need a new or used one.
