I love my new 87 xlt ranger 4x4 and I have spent the better part of the last month trying to restore it to its former glory. I have spent countless hours replacing clutch, u joints, rebuilding sagging ford leaf springs, replacing fluids, replacing bulbs and switches, radiator and second water pump in two years due to lack of flushing by the previous owner, trying to retrieve codes from an eec system that has always presented problems to Ford owners in the 80s. Luckily I have a perfect parts truck 2wd that I purchased for 50 dollars but I still managed to spend 500 dollars due to parts being outragiously priced here in Maui. Maui is the home for old Ford Rangers from the 80s I have never seen so many anywhere else. They are dropping like flies now though due to the appalling Ford 2.9 engine design. It takes longer to put 100,000 miles on one here. They sit on the side of the road abandoned on occasion because there is nowhere for them to go and you have to pay to get rid of your old car here. Its quite hysterical. They used to be king of the road here until the Toyota invasion. I am originally from Georgia though so I am a rebel against these foreign invaders from the orient.
