Two days ago my truck started to chirp from the camshaft area when hot at idle. When the motor is cold the noise is not there.I checked all the pulleys and they checked ok.I ran the truck without the belt and the noise is there.I replaced the timing belt tensioner pulley and it made no differance. When cold the noise is not present when hot it's there. It does go away when the rpm's increase. The truck has 172,000 miles.I changed the oil 3 weeks ago and used a motorcraft filter. Anybody have any thoughts?

No idea, but you can always try and WD40 where you think its coming from. Unless it's inside the engine.

It sounds like it's coming from behind the cam gear.WD-40 won't work there.Might be in the head.Just looking for some other ideas. Thanks for the reply tho'.

Take off your valve cover and check the condition of the lifters and followers.

That's the next logical step.Planning to do that next weekend.
