ok guys got a 2002 ford ranger ext cab with the edge package. got 4 10 gears and is all stock as of now preformance wise. i was planning on putting a chip in it to kick out the governer and help with towing and preformance was also planning on putting a cold air intake of some sort on it and dual exhaust probally just y pipe but not for sure yet. it has the 4.0 sohc in it and its pretty snappy. shuts down at 92 tho. how much do you think these 3 things would help and is there any other bolt ons that w ould help.

CAI... Zip. Dual Exhaust... Zilch (well maybe a pony or 2 tops). And the chip will help remove the governer (auto I assume then?) If anything I would upgrade the tranny cooler for the towing even if its not big its never fun to replace trannies, and then a programmer SC3 or something similar and then get a few different tunes (like economy, power and towing.)

well i figured the exhaust woulden do much i just want er to wound good as for the towin it will be an 18 foot bass boat and sometimes a pop up camper. its an auto yea. with 4 10s

Your truck came with a Cold Air Intake from the factory. If you want a better sounding exhaust, replace the stock muffler with a chambered muffler, like a Flowmaster 40 or Thrush Fully Welded. I personally like the Aero Turbine..

Don't get a Jetchip, they suck, look at a real programmer

I just put a Volant intake on my truck because ford no longer makes the oem intake hose for my truck (it was leaking). Sounds nice and it has a box that covers the filter unlike the K&N and AEM. I also run a 2.25" exhaust with a flowmaster 40. I wouldn't mess with the chips or programmers in my opinion.

SCT X3! I love the firm shifts and increased shift points of my transmission. The 93 octane tune gives much better throttle response and acceleration.

Why do you want to drive a truck more than 92 mph? get a mustang

I have a buddy who put a K&N set up on his ranger and he said he noticed no diffrence at all, other than the fact he didnt have to replace the filter, just clean it lol.

EDIT: His Ranger was a 99 3.0L btw

Well he had to buy the K&N for what ever he paid for it. IF you replaced the K&N its about $60 bucks.

OEM - $9

No offense intended but a Ranger is not a 66 Cobra. What do you need the thing to do? Performace is pretty scarry in a 4 x 4 and scarry in something designed for it.
