My chime Seems to stay on until turn the switch back off and on again fast before the engine stalls. I found the chime behind and above the glove box. I disconnected it and it stopped and the truck ran fine. the question is what does this module do. The manual wasn't helpful. Thanks Dirty

Seat belts

Lights still on when you open the door.

Key still in the ignition when you open the door.

Instead of turning the engine on and off quickly, mess with the ignition switch/key area and see if you can get it to go off. That little switch up in the tumbler may be sticking and it thinks the key is still in it.

Thanks franklin2, ill take the cover off the column and check the tumbler. With the key out it doesn't chime. Is it possible to pull the wire off the key tumbler and replace the connector to the chime and it still work? Dirty

If you disconnect the wire at the ignition cylinder, then part of the Chime's functionality will be removed. The "door ajar/key in ignition" part will not work. The "headlights on" and seatbelt warnings should still function.

Couldn't resist taking a peek inside the module. Seems that the bar in the middle can be remove and the speaker taken out of the equation. What goes on when the circuit stays hot when its suppose to be momentarily.

Unplugged the tumbler wire and still chimes. Looking at the seat belt system now. Last point on "human intervention" is probably a good guess. I found two wires for the seatbelt that were tied together when i put a vinyl floor in. All i did is shorten the wires and tie them together again. I had the battery disconnected for about a week. Guess I;ll peel back the floor and check the wires again.
