Chevy V8.... Help PLEASE!!!! (I am still a ford guy)

yes the stock 350 pump/

or if you can fabricate, the stock 2.3 pump will work. but you will need a serpentine system on the 350.

i have extra pumps laying around if ya need one.

maybe I could adapt a chevy SB compatible ps pump pulley to my 2.3 ps pump, if that could somehow work than that would be solved, some thing else I thought of today, the cooling setup, Im not sure how that will play out, but I wonder how well an old chevy truck radiator would work(I say that because I have a very limited budget).

hey blackwidow I was talking to my dad about a possibly doing this swap and he mentioned something about the vacuum lines and how that could be a problem, how did you get around it?

gut all the vacuum lines on the 2.3, and when the sbc is in there, you only need vacuum for brakes, pcv, trans, and distributor. all of which can be run off the carb.

problem solved. this is how i did mine.

keep in mind, mine is not done, im waiting to order the parts i need from jegs to finish it.

but no job means no cash means no parts.

thanks black widow (and by the way all your input has/is helping me try to figure all "angles" of chevy sb swap before I do it), and as far as the exhaust goes I think I am going to run CHEAP block hugger headers and route the exhaust going the a single cat (NEEDS to be street legal) and have a single glass pack for now (I will reuse the old cat and the glass pack I have on my truck already), and man I know about, no cash parts (I have, and am still trying to get a job) I just hope I can find a job SOON!!! oh and are you running egr equipment on your 350?

thanks, I think the 350 (that I can get a hold of) is out of of 71' silverado if Im not mistaken, and I think my 90' is emissions exempt here, I just ain't sure, and just hope it ain't to big a deal, how do block huggers interfere with fitting?( just wondered, because these , http://www.jegs.com/i/Hedman/500/68360/10002/-1#, are the ones I planned on using.

I actually descided to run the ones i linked to you.

cant beat em for the price.

thanks, I think I'll get those one you suggested(when I can afford it), but I have little bad news, that chevy 350 I can get, my freind says I needs rebuilt, but I think I will either find another 350 (cheap!!!) or chance it with that one( after all its free).

CRAIGSLIST IS YOUR FRIEND. IF YOU CAN, JUST GET ANOTHER BLOCK. its better to get a better engine from the get-go anyway. if you can, get me the casting numbers off that engine, and ill let you know if its any good or not.

edit, sorry bout the cap-loc, my keyboard is weird sometimes.

I'll try to get the casting numbers off that 350, but it may take a little while though because its still down at my friends house, but he did say it is a 4 bolt main block though. If I can find a job soon I have a 89' bonneville (my parents car actually) that I can use when I need to, but I just want to get this 350 thing rolling soon I dont care if I have to pour gas In the carb every time to start it, I just want to try and get it done!!!
