do any of you know if chevy 1500 springs from a 2005 will work for my ranger as good as the 88-98 springs? they measure the same length

They still used centered leaf springs and 2.5" wide springs, so I don't see why they wouldn't.

I can't comment on the lift amount gained however, as the arch and rate of the springs may have changed compared to the previous generation of trucks.

thanks johnny, anyone else see any problems with these? i am doing this for the flex, i am gonna use the belltech chevy shackles and blocks if needed.

Hey johnny, do you know how much lift would come from lets say.. a 1991 spring out of a full size chevy ? (or even if thats possible for a swap into a 2wd '93)

its possible as long as they are 63 inches long, you will have to move the front spring hanger, and you should get 1-1 1/2 of lift out of springs alone, if you use the belltech shackles i thing its like 3-4 inches.

lift as standard to what?

make the ride height where you want it by placing the hanger where it will need to go for ride height desired.

If the mounting hole is kept in the same horizontal plane, the 63" leaf swap should net approximately 3" of lift as compared to the stock (4x4) springs.

As Bobby pointed out, the vertical height of the spring hanger can be changed to increase of decrease the amount of lift gained from this swap.

so what you mean is that when i drill the new holes for the front hanger i can make them lower on the frame rail to get more height? i am looking to get 6" of height, so with chevy leafts and the belltech 6400 shackles do you think i will still need to lower the hanger?

also what do you guys do for bump stops if you remove the stock block with the wing on it that contacts the factory bump stops

you should be able to get 6 inches out of it without doing the front hanger chevy style. i have seen chevy 4x4 and regular hd van front hangers used to get great results as opposed to just using angle iron and box to make your own shit.

the rear you can lower the shackle hanger a lil with the same method or do long shackles.

dakota rear hangers can be fitted also to keep shackle length sane. takes some drilling but its simple stuff to do.

as for the bumps you can bolt some angle or a piece of tube or whatever on the side of the frame to contact the springplate
